Working as sustainable and responsible as possible.

MATERIALS

Our principle is “less is more”.

We have chosen everything in both houses with much love, for the detail and the craftsmanship. The textiles and linen we produce ourselves of fine handmade linen. Duvets are all anti-allergic. Bedlinen is all handmade from linen. We never buy the easy and cheapest products. We believe it is much more economical and sustainable to buy well-made products in good quality in terms of design and materials as they will last a lifetime that keeps buying and throwing things away.

THE FOOD WE SERVE

We make everything by hand and heart ourselves. We bake the bread fresh every morning. We make marmalades from the berries in our garden.

We buy from people we know and trust. The dairy products come from farmers whos cows all have names, which we think explains the close relationship between animals and humans in the valley. The water from the tab is pure spring water. The eggs are brought to us fresh twice a week from Kasper´s and Irene’s chickens. The honey brings Pius from his hives way up in the mountains above Vals. The fruit and vegies come fresh every day.

All other products are bought from “Bio-or farm shops”. Wine comes from “The Bündner Herrshaften” only 60 km from Vals.

THE ENERGY WE USE AND WASTE WE PRODUCE

Our houses are heated partly by firewood locally sourced. Partly by electricity which is made at the hydropower plant (Zervreila) at the end of the valley. We support “Pro Natura” and the part of “Foundation Franz Weber” that give animals in distress a helping hand.

THE PEOPLE WE LIKE TO WORK WITH

We hire locals. Mountain people that know the best places to go. Everyone works from the same basis and are given education and trust for them to be able to do their job as they see fit. That way we also learn and get better over time.
